Devin Armani Booker (born October 30, 1996 in Grand Rapids , Michigan ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Phoenix Suns in the NBA .

Career

college

In 2014 he took part in the McDonald's All-American , the annual game of the best high school basketball players in the country. He played in his college career for the Kentucky Wildcats under coach John Calipari . After just one year of college, he signed up for the NBA draft and was the youngest participant in the 2015 draft.

NBA

Booker was selected as the 13th  pick by the Phoenix Suns in the 2015 NBA Draft . At first he played very little and came off the bench. After the serious injuries of the Suns Guards Brandon Knight and Eric Bledsoe , Booker was promoted to the starting line-up, where he quickly developed into a good shooter. He took part in the NBA All-Star Weekend Rookie Challenge , where he scored 23 points. He was also the youngest participant to ever take part in the NBA All-Star Weekend Three-Point Shootout . In November 2016, he scored 39 points in a game with the Los Angeles Lakers , as well as in January 2017 against the San Antonio Spurs . In March 2017, he scored 32 points against the New York Knicks and 35 points against the Denver Nuggets within two days . Booker finished his rookie season with an average of 13.8 points. In the subsequent election for Rookie of the Year , he finished fourth and was also appointed to the NBA All-Rookie First Team . In the 2016/17 season, Booker set a record in one game with 70 points, which he reached on March 25, 2017 at the Boston Celtics . At the age of 20, he became the youngest NBA player to ever exceed the 60-point mark in a single game, and achieved the tenth-highest score in a game in NBA history, as well as the most points ever to a Sun player reach. Booker also led the Suns at the end of the season with 22.1 points per game as the top scorer. The playoffs were clearly missed, however. In the following season he increased his average to 24.9 points per game, but he missed many games due to many minor injuries. During NBA All-Star Weekend 2018 won Booker the three-point competition .

In the 2018 off-season, Booker signed a Max deal with the Phoenix Suns that guaranteed him $ 158 million over a five-year period.

Personal life

Booker is of Puerto Rican descent on his mother's side. Because of this, he is eligible to play for the Puerto Rican national team. Booker's grandfather is from Mexico.

Others

His father Melvin Booker also played in the CBA and NBA between 1994 and 1997 . After he could not assert himself in the NBA, he continued his career in Italy, Russia and Turkey.
