Aron Baynes (born December 9, 1986 in Gisborne , New Zealand ) is a professional Australian basketball player who currently plays for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA .

Career

His career began at Washington State University . From there he moved to the top Lithuanian club BC Lietuvos Rytas in 2009 , with whom he was also Lithuanian champion in the 2009/2010 season. There he played his first games in the Euroleague , the highest European basketball competition. In 27 games he came in the Lithuanian league to 9.3 points, 3.6 rebounds in 13.6 minutes of play. In the Euroleague he scored an average of 5.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in 12.7 minutes in ten games.

From the 2010/2011 season he played for EWE Baskets Oldenburg . Due to the unsatisfactory course of the season, EWE Baskets terminated the contract with Baynes after the season.

After further stints in Greece and Slovenia, Baynes moved to North America in the NBA in January 2013 . He received a contract with the San Antonio Spurs . With the Spurs, he became NBA champions in 2014.

In 2015, Baynes moved to the Detroit Pistons . After his contract with the Pistons expired, he signed a contract with the Boston Celtics on July 19, 2017 .
