Romeo Langford (born October 25, 1999 in New Albany , Indiana ) is an American basketball player .
High school and college
Langford attended high school in his hometown of New Albany , Indiana , where he played basketball for four years. As a sophomore he already scored over 30 points per game and led his school to the first championship since 1973. His personal best in points was once 63 points in a game against a school from Jennings County . He finished his high school career with 3,002 points in all games, placing him in fourth place in the Indiana state high school scoring list. In 2018 Langford was also named “Mr. Basketball ”in Indiana.
Due to his sensational achievements for his high school, various top-class universities became aware of Langford, such as Indiana , Louisville , Kansas , Kentucky , UCLA and Duke . On April 30, 2018, he announced that he would play for the Hoosiers of Indiana University in his home state. He was there from the start as a regular shooting guard on the field. His best score in college was on January 3, 2019 in his team's 73:65 home win against Illinois . At the end of the season, he had averaged 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. His 528 points meant third place in the all-time freshman list of Indiana University, only Eric Gordon and Cody Zeller had a higher value for the Hoosiers in their early year .
After the season 2018/19 Romeo Langford announced for the draft process of the NBA to where he by many experts as a candidate for the top places was seen and was ultimately selected as the 14th player. The Boston Celtics secured his rights.
