Vincent Poirier (born October 17,  1993 in Clamart ) is a French basketball player .

career

Poirier grew up first in Châtillon , then in Guermantes, also in the greater Paris area . He played soccer and started playing basketball at the age of 17 with the Bussy Basket Club. He was later promoted in the youth training center of the Paris Levallois club . In the 2013/14 season Poirier received his first appearances in the Ligue Nationale de Basket , the first division of France. He was loaned to the second division team Hyères-Toulon Var Basket for a year , where he gained match experience in the 2014/15 season before returning to Paris Levallois. After the 2016/17 game year, in which he drew attention in the French league with averages of 11.2 points and 8.1 rebounds, he wore the colors of the Brooklyn Nets in the 2017 NBA summer league . In June 2017 he signed a three-year contract with the Spanish top club Saski Baskonia . In the 2018/19 season he led the Euroleague with a rebound average of 8.1 per game.

On July 2, 2019, he joined the Boston Celtics ( NBA ) and received a two-year contract.

National team

After appearances with the French U20 national team (including the U20 European Championship 2013), he made his debut in the senior national team in 2017, with which he took part in the European Championship that same year. At the 2019 World Cup , he finished third with France.
