Bradley Daniel "Brad" Wanamaker Jr. (born July 25, 1989 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Wanamaker played as a professional player except for a few games in the NBA Development League , where he won the title with the Austin Toros in 2012, in Europe. After stints in Italy and France , Wanamaker won two championships in Germany with Brose Bamberg and was individually awarded one season MVP and one final MVP of the Basketball Bundesliga . After one year each in the jersey of Darüşşafaka SK Istanbul and Fenerbahçe , he is currently playing for the Boston Celtics in the NBA.

Career

After graduating from school in his hometown, Wanamaker received a place at the University of Pittsburgh in 2007 , where he played for the university team Panthers together with the later NBA pro DeJuan Blair in the then Big East Conference of the NCAA . In his first year as a freshman , the Panthers won in a new edition of the previous year's final against the Hoyas of Georgetown University the championship tournament of the Big East in 2008 and were able to return the favor for the final defeat the year before. At the national NCAA finals tournament, however, the Panthers were eliminated in the second round. In Wanamaker's sophomore year, they reached the quarter-finals of the Elite Eight , which, however, was lost by two points to the Wildcats of Villanova University around the later Bundesliga players Dwayne Anderson and Reggie Redding . In the following two final rounds they did not get beyond the second round and lost in 2011 to the later finalist Bulldogs of Butler University , whose ranks included the future Bundesliga player Matt Howard . Wanamaker scored 1,093 points and 454 assists for the Panthers in 134 games in the NCAA .

After Wanamaker was not selected in the 2011 NBA draft by any club in the highest-endowed professional league NBA, he signed a first fixed-term contract with the Italian club Banca Tercas from Teramo in Abruzzo . Here he completed the first seven-season games in the top division Lega Basket Serie A . In early December 2011 they separated and Wanamaker got after the end of the lockout of the NBA a contract with the Atlanta Hawks , which was terminated after 14 days without Wanamaker had completed a service in the NBA. At the beginning of 2012, Wanamaker was then again in Italy for Fulgor Libertas from Forli in the then second division Legadue active before he again declined and in February 2012 in his home country in the NBA Development League (D-League) for the farm team Toros from Austin (Texas) ended the season. Together with, among others, the D-League MVP Justin Dentmon , Wanamaker was able to win the championship of this league. After the NBA Summer League 2012 again with the Atlanta Hawks, Wanamaker signed a contract with the traditional club and first division returnee Cercle Saint-Pierre from Limoges in France for the 2012/13 season . In the LNB Pro A this time, Limoges reached the league in 13th place, after having been relegated two years earlier after being promoted again.

For the 2013/14 season Wanamaker got another contract in Italy, where he was active for first division promoted Giorgio Tesi Basket from Pistoia . This immediately reached eighth place and made it into the play-offs for the title, in which in the first round you bowed to the main round first and later title winner Olimpia Armani Milan in five games after a big fight . In July 2014, Wanamaker signed a contract with the German first division club Brose Baskets Bamberg for the 2014/15 basketball Bundesliga . He became German champion with the Bambergers in 2015 and 2016 and was individually honored as one of the outstanding players in the league as BBL Finals MVP 2015 and BBL MVP of the 2016 regular season . Wanamaker was also able to celebrate international success with the Bamberg team. The multiple German champion won his first game with Wanamaker in the intermediate round of the 16 best teams of the highest-ranking European club competition Euroleague and only narrowly failed in the ULEB Euroleague 2015/16 on the last day of the game in the quarter-final play-offs. Wanamaker himself was named MVP of the eleventh game day of the Euroleague intermediate round based on his individual effectiveness value .

In the summer of 2016 he used a contract release clause to leave Bamberg and switch to the Turkish club Darüşşafaka SK Istanbul . In addition to the TBL , Wanamaker played with Daçka in the EuroLeague 2016/17 , in which they reached the playoffs in eighth place. In the best-of-five series against Real Madrid , they were eliminated after four games.

In the summer of 2017, Wanamaker signed a one-year contract with the Turkish EuroLeague champion Fenerbahçe .

In the summer of 2018, Wanamaker was signed by the Boston Celtics.
