Julius Jenkins (born February 10, 1981 in Fort Lauderdale , Florida ) is an American basketball player .
Career
When Jenkins graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2003, he moved to RCE Falke Nürnberg in the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga South and began his professional basketball career. In his first season in Germany he scored 22.5 points per game and established himself as one of the best offensive players in the league. His second season ended even more successfully when he scored 27.1 points per game and was finally named the most valuable player in the 2nd Bundesliga.
Due to his strong performance, financially stronger clubs became aware of him, which offered him better-paid contracts and the opportunity to play in European competitions. So in 2005 he moved to Belgium to Euphony Bree . With the team he also took part in the ULEB Eurocup . In the Belgian league he scored 18.4 points per game, in the Eurocup 17.8 points.
After his season in Belgium he returned to the basketball league and signed a contract with Alba Berlin . With Berlin he won the German championship in 2008 , the cup in 2009 , and reached the Eurocup final in 2010. He was also able to convince individually and was named All-Star Game MVP in 2008, BBL Player of the Year in 2008 and 2010 , and the best offensive player in the Basketball Bundesliga in 2008, 2009 and 2010 . Jenkins was able to convince with double-digit point yields in the Euro and the earlier ULEB Cup as well as in the Euroleague . With a total of 4,154 points in 272 games, he took third place behind Wendell Alexis and Henrik Rödl on Alba Berlin's eternal basketball list.
After five years, Alba Berlin decided not to renew his contract with him, and so he signed a two-year contract with Brose Baskets Bamberg . However, Jenkins did not fulfill this contract and switched to EWE Baskets Oldenburg in 2012 . His last contract there ended in 2015 and included the option for an extension for another year, which was not drawn by the club.
After Jenkins was active for KK Budućnost VOLI from Montenegro during the 2015/16 season , he returned to Germany for the following season: Bundesliga promoted Science City Jena announced his commitment in August 2016. After the club's relegation in 2019, his contract was not extended. By March 2020, Jenkins was number one on the list of Bundesliga players with the most three-point throws with 934, before he was overtaken by Rickey Paulding .
Jenkins is married and has two daughters.
