KK Budućnost is a Montenegrin basketball club from Podgorica . You currently play in the ABA league as well as in the first Montenegrin league. The club also takes part in the EuroCup .
history
Budućnost Podgorica was founded in 1949. In the first decades after its founding, the club had no notable successes except on a regional (Montenegrin) level. It was not until 1980 that they were promoted to the first Yugoslav league. With the exception of the 1985/86 season (relegation to the second division) Buducnost always played in the first Yugoslav division. Until the breakup of Yugoslavia, however, the club did not manage to win a national title. In the 1995/96 season, the club won the Cup of Serbia and Montenegro for the first time. Two years later this success could be repeated. After winning the first cup, Buducnost managed to win three championship titles in a row between 1999 and 2001. In the 2000/01 season, out of 27 games, none were lost in the regular season and the play-offs. In the same season Buducnost started in the Euroleague for the first time after participating in the Korac and Saporta Cups in the 1990s . Since the 2001/02 season Buducnost has also played in the Adriatic League . The 2003/04 season was Buducnost's last in the joint league with Serbia. After the split from Serbia there was a separate Montenegrin championship only in the 2006/07 season. Here Buducnost is the superior team and has so far won 12 out of 13 possible championships. Internationally, winning the ABA League in 2018 was the greatest success.
