Darius Adams (born April 17, 1989 in Decatur , Illinois ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Adams turned pro in 2012. After working in Venezuela , the Dominican Republic , the Ukraine , France and Germany, he has been playing for SLUC Nancy Basket in France since the 2014/15 season .

Career

Adams first went to study at the small community college Lincoln College in his native US state . There he played for the college team Lynx in the "National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association" (NJCAA) and was selected after two years in 2009 as one of the nation's best community college basketball players under the NJCAA All-American . Despite his athletic achievements, he only got one place at a university in the NCAA Division II, which is generally not enough for an athlete aiming for a professional career. At the University of Indianapolis he played for the Greyhounds from 2009 to 2011. In his senior year they qualified for the national finals of Division II, in which they were eliminated in the first round.

Adams finally aspired to a career as a professional basketball player and signed a first professional contract in 2012 with the Guaiqueríes of Isla Margarita in Venezuela, where he was elected MVP of the All-Star Games of the Venezuelan League. He then played in the Dominican Republic for the Reales from La Vega . In January 2013 he finally got a contract in the Basketball Super League Ukraine with Krywbass Basket from Krywyj Rih . After strong performances, he was committed to the end of the season by Loiret Basket from Orléans in the French LNB Pro A , for which he still had four championship appearances. However, the team missed in ninth place in the main round tables because of the poorer direct comparison against JSF Nanterre , who later won the title in the play-offs , qualifying for the final round of the championship.

Adams was signed by the German first division club Eisbären from Bremerhaven for the 2013/14 basketball Bundesliga . After a bad start to the season, the team was able to secure relegation early on in twelfth place in the table. Adams was the league's top scorer with 18 points per game and was named the season's best offensive player for his achievements . After the 2013/14 season he moved back to France to SLUC Nancy Basket, where he competed alongside the LNB Pro A in the 2014/15 Eurocup and was named Player of the Week on the fourth match day based on his effectiveness . At Christmas 2014, his move to the traditional Basque club Saski Laboral Kutxa was announced, where he replaced the French Thomas Heurtel , who had emigrated to Turkey , and also played with Adams in the top-ranking European club competition ULEB Euroleague 2014/15 .
