Andrew John Wisniewski (born September 1, 1981 in Staten Island , New York ) is a retired American basketball player .

Career

Wisniewski received his basketball training from 1999 to 2001 at Saint Peter's University (first NCAA division) in New Jersey , then from 2001 to 2004 at the Centenary College in Louisiana , for whose basketball team he competed in the third NCAA division. With 1758 points he was on his departure from the university in 2004 in the eternal basket hunter list of the team in fifth place.

In the 2004 NBA draft , Wisniewski was not selected. In the summer of 2004 Wisniewski moved to Europe and played one season for the Serbian team KK Red Star Belgrade .

Wisniewski moved to Germany to the Telekom Baskets Bonn for the 2005/06 season . At the end of the season he was named the best attacking player and best newcomer to the 2005/06 season , and with 20.6 points per game he was the best basket scorer in the Bundesliga .

In the 2006/07 season Wisniewski first played for the Italian club Pallalcesto Amatori Udine , but moved to Croatia in December to KK Cibona Zagreb , with whom he became Croatian champions (A1 league).

Wisniewski then played for two years in Russia, first for Ural Great Perm (2007/08 season), then for BK Spartak Saint Petersburg (2008/09 season).

For the 2009/10 season Wisniewski moved to Israel to Maccabi Tel Aviv , won the Israeli league cup with the team and was runner-up.

After the end of his playing career, Wisniewski returned to his home country and worked as a basketball coach in the New York area. He founded a company that offers basketball training for young people and was in charge of the Metro Rens youth team in 2015. For the 2016/17 season, he became an assistant coach at Baruch College , whose college basketball team takes part in the third NCAA division. In 2017 he took over the post of head coach at Xaverian High School in Brooklyn .
