Casey Gardner Jacobsen (born March 19, 1981 in Glendora , California ) is a former American basketball player who played as a shooting guard or as a small forward .

Career

The 39-year-old was active in both the NBA and the European basketball scene. He played college basketball for Stanford University , where he scored 1,723 points in three seasons - the third-highest score in school history. In addition, he is in second place in the Stanford leaderboards for converted three-point throws (222), fourth place in the three-point throw rate (42.7 percent) and he has the sixth highest average points (18.1 per game).

In the 2002 NBA Draft , Jacobsen was selected 22nd by the Phoenix Suns . In the NBA he played for the clubs Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Hornets and Houston Rockets . During the 2003/04 season he had the ninth-best three-throw quota in the NBA (41.7 percent).

In the 2005/06 season he helped Tau Vitoria ( ACB League ) into the Final Four of the Euroleague .

During the 2006/07 season Jacobsen played for the German club Brose Baskets Bamberg , which became German champions in the 2006/2007 season . Jacobsen was voted MVP of the final series .

On July 24, 2007 Jacobsen signed a contract with the Memphis Grizzlies . However, this was dissolved again after a season. In August 2008 Jacobsen signed a one-year contract with the German champions ALBA Berlin.

For the 2009/2010 season Jacobsen moved back to the Brose Baskets in Bamberg, where he not only became German champion and MVP of the final series, but also a cup winner and thus won the German double. The captain of Brose Baskets extended the 2010/2011 season for another year in Bamberg.

After successfully defending his title and another double in the 2010/11 season, Jacobsen signed a new three-year contract with Brose Baskets. This lasted until summer 2014. After the early end in the 2014 play-offs and the no longer possible defense of the title, Jacobsen announced his departure from Bamberg. His jersey number 23 will no longer be awarded in his honor at the Brose Baskets and his jersey will be pulled under the roof of the Bamberg Hall.

On May 22nd, 2014 Jacobsen announced the end of his career as a professional basketball player. He returned to California after his career.
