Basketball Bundesliga 2014/15

The 2015/16 Basketball Bundesliga season (officially Beko Basketball Bundesliga ) was the 50th season of the top German division in men's basketball . The regular season started on October 1, 2015 and ended on May 1, 2016 with the 34th and final game day. The play-off final round for the championship lasted until June 12, 2016.

After their fifth title win in the past six seasons, the Brose Baskets from Bamberg started the 50th anniversary season as defending champions. At the unofficial start of the BBL Champions Cup season on September 27, 2015, the champions of the 2014/15 season received the EWE Baskets Oldenburg , the winner of the Beko BBL Cup 2015, in a new edition of the league cup final . Together with runner-up FC Bayern Munich , the champion also took part in the ULEB Euroleague 2015/16 . In the Eurocup 2015/16 , the league was represented by the former semi-finalists Alba Berlin and ratiopharm ulm , last year's fourth in the table Telekom Baskets Bonn and, after the waiver of other teams initially registered, the EWE Baskets Oldenburg and MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg .

For the anniversary season, the Gießen 46ers , a founding member of the league and consistently top-notch until relegation in 2013, as well as the s.Oliver Baskets from Würzburg returned to the league after being promoted directly back to the league. The Artland Dragons withdrew from the top division after twelve years of membership in the first division and continued the game with a changed organization in the third division ProB 2015/16 , so that the former bottom of the table Crailsheim Merlins could remain in the division by means of a " wildcard ". The penultimate TBB Trier withdrew from gaming operations after bankruptcy. The successor organization Gladiators Trier obtained a license for the second highest division ProA 2015/16 .

In the 46:43 victory of the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig over Alba Berlin on January 16, 2016, with 89 points, the second worst point result in the history of the Bundesliga was achieved.
