The 1983/84 season is the 18th season of the Basketball Bundesliga . The top division in German men's club basketball, until 1990 limited to the territory of West Germany without the GDR , was played in a league with ten teams, which were followed by final rounds.

Season Notes

The ASC 1846 Göttingen was able to defend its championship in the new edition of the previous year's final against BSC Saturn Cologne and after the success in the cup competition against the same opponent and defending champion also won the double .
Newcomers BC Giants Osnabrück and USC Heidelberg after the immediate resurgence were able to keep the class, while founding member MTV Wolfenbüttel , still cup winners in 1982, and USC Bayreuth were relegated.
