The 1967/68 season is the second season of the Basketball Bundesliga . The top division in German men's club basketball, until 1990 limited to the area of West Germany without the GDR , was played in two regional groups, North and South, and determined the four participants in the final round of the German Championship.
The main round was held in round- robin mode within the respective regional groups. In that season, undecided game results were also included in the evaluation. At the end of the main round, BC Darmstadt and TSV 1860 Munich were tied in the south group. In this case, no direct comparison , as was customary later, decided, but a decision game, which decided on the second relegated from the group south. The TSV lost to the Darmstadt BC in 1860 and was relegated.
In the final round, the participants played out the finalists in a two-way round in accordance with the group placements. In the final in the Schloßwall-Halle in Osnabrück there was a new edition of the previous year's final , in which the defending champion MTV 1846 Gießen again defended the upper hand and his championship title against hosts VfL Osnabrück with 79:69. The Bayern Munich won the cup final against MTV Wolfenbüttel and could win another national title after the two championships in the 1950s.
