The Heidelberger Turnverein (HTV) was founded in 1846 and is thus the oldest gymnastics club in Heidelberg . In addition to the original offerings of gymnastics, brass music, choir singing and the extinguishing and exercise offers of a gymnast's fire brigade , women's gymnastics , athletics and the first ball games were later added. Rugby, hockey, skiing and water sports followed between the two world wars and later basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis and football.

American football

The American football team of the HTV runs under the name "Heidelberg Hunters" in game operations. In addition to a men's team, there are youth teams, flag football teams and several cheerleading groups. The Heidelberg Hunters play their home games on Hans-Hassemer-Platz (HTV sports grounds) in Heidelberg.

In 2017 the Heidelberg Hunters celebrated their first ascent. They won the Baden-Württemberg District League unbeaten with a record of 8-0.

badminton

The badminton department is one of the younger departments of the HTV. In addition to several active teams in the game operations of the Baden-Württemberg Badminton Association, there is a large proportion of recreational players.

basketball

The most successful time of the basketball department of the HTV was in the 1950s and 1960s, when the women were able to become German champions seven times. The men reached the German runner-up twice in the same period. The youth won more than ten national championship titles in the 1980s and 1990s. The C-Youth female became German runner-up in 1992, as did the C-Youth male in 1995 and 1999. The Senior III became German champions in 1983.

In the HTV youth teams played u. a. Maike Mocikat, Lenka Bartholomé, Marlu Mono, Lenssa Mohammed, Tobi and Christian Stoll, Jonathan Weber, Nick von Olberg and Mario Stojic .

Today the basketball players of the HTV play in the amateur field and provide three men's and six youth teams and several children's and leisure groups.

rugby

Heidelberg is a stronghold of rugby in Germany. The rugby team of Heidelberger TV was in the final of the German championship three times (1974, 1979 and 1994) and won the DRV cup in 2014 and 2015 . The rugby team currently plays in the 2nd Bundesliga.

volleyball

The volleyball department was founded in 1977. Initially intended as a complement to leisure and popular sports, a large department with five men’s, three women and various youth teams developed. At the top, the HTV volleyball players, male and female, mostly play in the upper and regional leagues. The male youth are now among the best in North Baden.

The department is also characterized by a high level of event competence and has been able to appear several times as a partner club of the Smart Beach Cup and the DVV Cup final .

Beach volleyball is also played and there are three beach fields suitable for competitions on the sports facility at Hans-Hassemer-Platz.

tennis

The tennis department of the HTV was founded in 1981, followed by the construction of tennis courts. The tennis department of the HTV takes part in the media round of the BTV . The majority of the department plays tennis in the recreational area, away from the competition.

Children's sports school

As a supplement to the children's sports offer of the departments and in order to bring children to the departments, the HTV has been running a children's sports school since 2010 , in which children between two and ten years of age receive basic training across all sports and can try out a wide variety of sports.

do gymnastics

The gymnastics department is the oldest and with 600 members also the largest department of the HTV. It has existed since it was founded in 1846. The department is one of the founding members of the Heidelberg Artistic Gymnastics Association (KTG). Today the gymnastics department works closely with the Heidelberg gymnastics center. In the gymnastics department of the HTV mainly girls and women do gymnastics, while the male area only exists marginally. From parent-child gymnastics to general gymnastics to performance-oriented gymnastics, everything is offered in the department. The first team of the HTV rose in 2016 as a competition community with the KTG Heidelberg in the regional league and has only started there under KTG Heidelberg since 2017. Since then, the first team of the Heidelberg gymnastics club has been doing gymnastics in the association league.

Anyone

In the everyone's department of the HTV you can find a. former active members of the other departments in order to jointly pursue recreational sports - e. B. when kicking or doing gymnastics.

Fitness and health sports

In the fitness and health sports department, health-oriented sports such as Pilates , circuit training , back courses and much more are offered.
