The Badischer Tennisverband is the umbrella organization for tennis clubs in Baden and is based in Leimen . The 123,100 members of the 729 tennis clubs have 3,405 outdoor and 284 indoor courts available.
founding
In May 1947, nine tennis clubs from the cities of Heidelberg, Karlsruhe , Mannheim and Pforzheim founded the North Baden Tennis Association (NBTV) in Heidelberg . The Baden Tennis Association was to develop from this. A year later the South Baden Tennis Association was founded. The northern and southern associations of Baden finally merged on New Year 1971 to form a unified association, the Baden Tennis Association (BTV). While there were 178 clubs when it was founded, in 2014 the BTV had 729 clubs.

Successful clubs
The most important tennis club within the Baden Tennis Association is TK Grün-Weiss Mannheim . In 1922, 1993, 1996, 2005, 2007 and 2010, the club was able to win the German team championship. The club won the runner-up in 1924, 1999 and 2008. The 2013 Bundesliga team included Janko Tipsarević , Tommy Haas , Jürgen Melzer , Tobias Kamke and Benjamin Becker . In addition to the TK Grün-Weiß Mannheim, the TC Rüppurr attracted attention in 2007 when the women's team celebrated the German championship. Another three years later, the women's team of the TC Radolfzell joined the list of German champions as the third team in the Baden tennis association. In the following year the German championship was defended.
Well-known athletes
The BTV is probably the national association from which the most successful tennis athletes emerged. Steffi Graf and Boris Becker are well-known athletes who once learned their trade in the Baden Tennis Association. The latter is currently the coach of Novak Đoković . Also Anke Huber has its roots in BTV. She won 12 WTA titles over the course of her career.
Centers of Excellence and Districts
A state performance center has existed in Leimen since 1977, initially consisting of three indoor tennis courts. In the course of the years, the construction of two more indoor courts was realized. The state performance center also has a fitness room , three outdoor courts and a hard court. The also existing fin track completes the training facility. Tennis, fitness and conditioning trainers and a physiotherapist are available to assist those who train. The state performance center also trains B and C trainers.
The Baden Tennis Association is divided into the four districts of Rhine / Neckar-Odenwald, Central Baden, Upper Rhine-Breisgau, Black Forest-Lake Constance.
