The 1980/81 season is the 15th season of the Basketball Bundesliga . The top division in German men's club basketball, until 1990 limited to the territory of West Germany without the GDR , was played in a league with ten teams, followed by final and relegation rounds.
Season Notes
- The BSC Saturn Köln won his first championship and also a double after the title in the cup competition against SSV Hagen was able to defend.
- The two promoted SpVgg 07 Ludwigsburg and BG DEK / Fichte Hagen had to relegate immediately after the last two places in the relegation round. In addition, the third from last Hamburg TB withdrew his team from the top division.
