The 1982/83 season is the 17th season of the Basketball Bundesliga . The top division in German men's club basketball, until 1990 limited to the territory of West Germany without the GDR , was played in a league with ten teams, followed by final and relegation rounds.

Season Notes

• The ASC 1846 Göttingen won his first championship in a final series against defending BSC Saturn Cologne . However, the Cologne won the title in the cup competition against SSV Hagen .
• The promoted 1. FC 01 Bamberg and FC Schalke 04 were relegated again at the end of the season.
