Basketball Bundesliga 1967/68

The 1968/69 season was the third season of the Basketball Bundesliga . The top division in German men's club basketball, until 1990 limited to the area of West Germany without the GDR , was played in two regional groups, North and South, and determined the four participants in the final round of the German Championship.

Season Notes

Relegated from the previous season from the top division were TV Grafenberg in Düsseldorf in the north group and TSV Schwaben Augsburg and TSV 1860 Munich in the south group. They have been replaced by TuS 04 Leverkusen in the north group and TG Würzburg and USC Mainz in the south group. The main round was held in round- robin mode within the respective regional groups. In that season, undecided game results were also included in the evaluation.

In the final round, the participants played out the finalists in a two-way round in accordance with the group placements. In the final game in the sports hall of the Justus Liebig University in Gießen there was a duel between defending champion MTV 1846 Gießen and runner-up VfL Osnabrück for the third time in a row , in which the guests made their own for the previous defeats, including one year earlier Halle, were able to reciprocate and won a championship for the first time with 76:69. The same opponents faced each other in the final of the cup competition. With one point, the previous champion won his first title in the Alsterdorfer sports hall in the third edition of this still young competition.
