The 1974/75 season is the ninth season of the Basketball Bundesliga . The top division in German men's club basketball, which until 1990 was limited to the territory of West Germany without the GDR , was played in two regional groups, north and south, each with eight teams.
The championship was for the first time since 1968 MTV 1846 Gießen , which had meanwhile been runner-up four times, and made USC Heidelberg runner-up in the finals as in the previous season.
The previous champion SSV Hagen won the cup competition for the first time and relegated USC Heidelberg to second place here too.
For the following season, a "single-track" league with a total of ten teams and a two-track 2nd basketball league were introduced. Therefore, three teams from the top division were relegated from the relegation rounds and there were no direct promoters from the regional leagues to the top division.
Of the newcomers to this season, RuWa Dellwig was able to keep the class, while the other climbers relegated again. In addition, the champions from 1969 left the league with VfL Osnabrück and never returned as VfL.
