Dennis Curran (basketball player)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dennis Curran is a former American basketball player who was active for MTV 1846 Gießen  in the basketball league  .

career

Curran played at Siena College , New York State . On the recommendation of his compatriot Anthony Koski he was signed in 1974 by the German Bundesliga club MTV 1846 Gießen. The Central Hessians had looked for a replacement for the more than two meter tall Koski and had assumed that Curran would also be about this height. When he arrived in Germany, however, those responsible for the club found that the American was only a few centimeters more than 1.90 meters. Curran was nevertheless the hoped-for reinforcement among the baskets in the Giessen team and in the 1974/75 season, in which MTV became German champions, with an average of 27 points per game, even advanced to become the best basket shooter in the Bundesliga. In the 1975/76 season, Curran's achievements no longer matched those of the championship season, which was partly due to the fact that he had a broken hand and an eye injury in an argument with US soldiers. In 1976 Curran left Giessen, then played in France and went  on tour as a member of the opposing team of the Harlem Globetrotters .
