The 1984/85 season is the 19th season of the Basketball Bundesliga . The top division in German men's club basketball, until 1990 limited to the territory of West Germany without the GDR , was played in a league with ten teams, which were followed by final rounds.
Season Notes
- The TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen won his first championship as TSV Bayer 04 after the merger, after they had won the first five title wins in the 1970s even as TuS 04 Leverkusen.
- The previous master ASC 1846 Göttingen was able to at least defend his title in the cup competition when in the final the first division relegated and second division club BG Steiner Bayreuth was able to defeat, who achieved immediate promotion.
- With the German- Canadian Mike Jackel , the Göttingen team also provided the top scorer of the season.
- Promoted ART Düsseldorf had to relegate without a win, while first division returners 1. FC 01 Bamberg managed to stay in the league. For this, the previous record champions USC Heidelberg had to leave the top division for the third and so far final time after 1980 and 1982.
