The 1977/78 season is the 12th season of the Basketball Bundesliga . The top division in German men's club basketball, until 1990 limited to the territory of West Germany without the GDR , was played in a league with ten teams, followed by relegation and final rounds.

Season Notes

  • The MTV 1846 Casting scored his fifth and last time being Championship.
  • The main round first and defending champion USC Heidelberg under the new coach Roland Geggus missed the tenth championship title, but were able to defend the title in the cup competition against SSV Hagen .
  • In the relegation rounds, all first division teams, including newcomer TuS Aschaffenburg, managed to stay up against the second division.
