Claus Herberhold

Claus Herberhold (born February 24, 1938 in Soest ) is a German ENT doctor .

Life

Claus Herberhold studied medicine at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . Since 1957 he has been a member of the Catholic student association AV Guestfalia Tübingen . 1963 obtained his doctorate in Tübingen as Dr. med.

He completed his specialist training as an ENT doctor with Hugo Eickhoff at the Aachen City Hospital and with Walter Becker in Bonn. He completed his habilitation in Aachen in 1972 and in 1973 he was re-qualified in Bonn. From 1978 to 1985 he headed the ENT University Clinic Hamburg, then he took over the management of the ENT University Clinic Bonn, which he held until 2003.

His clinical work focuses on surgery of the upper respiratory tract and food tract, tracheal transplantation, clinical-surgical oncology and electrophysiological functional diagnostics on the specialist sensory organs and cranial nerves.

Research and Teaching

The focus of his scientific work was on the pathophysiology of the cervical lymphatic system, olfactory and taste disorders as well as the physiology and pathophysiology of the paranasal sinuses .
