Reiner Frontzek

Reiner Frontzek (* 1955 ) is a German basketball trainer and former national basketball player .

career

Frontzek was the best thrower of the German national team at the European Cadet Championships in Italy in 1973 with an average of 20 points per game. He played on the wing position for TuS 04 Leverkusen and ASV Köln in the basketball league and made his debut in the German national team in April 1976, for which he played 39 international matches until 1979. In 1976 he moved to USC Heidelberg within the Bundesliga . In his first year in the Kurpfalz, where he had come to study medicine, he won the German championship and the DBB Cup with the USC. In the 1977/78 season Frontzek was the best thrower in the Bundesliga with 818 points and then left Heidelberg again. He later played for MTV Wolfenbüttel in the Bundesliga.

After completing his medical degree, Frontzek started working for the Lower Saxony state school authority as a specialist in general medicine and company medicine. In addition to his professional tasks, he remained connected to basketball as a trainer and was employed at Hagener SV , Osnabrücker SC , TV Ibbenbüren and TuS Bramsche , among others . In summer 2020 he returned to the coaching position in Bramsche, which he had already held from 2012 to 2017.
