Ted Hundley

Ted Hundley is a retired American basketball player . The 2.04 meter tall wing and inside player played in the basketball league for Giessen and Heidelberg.

career

Hundley from Lexington , Kentucky , played basketball in his hometown at Bryan Station High School, between 1973 and 1977 he studied and played at Morehead State University in the NCAA . When he left the university in 1977, he was in the team's "all-time bests" in seventh place with 1,450 points scored and fifth in rebounds with 901. He achieved the best averages of his university time during the 1975/76 season, when he scored an average of 18.8 points and 10.9 rebounds in 25 games. In 1997 he was inducted into the university's “ Hall of Fame ” for his sporting achievements .

Hundley moved to MTV 1846 Gießen for the 1977/78 season and won the German championship in his first season. On the way to the title, Hundley was the best thrower in Central Hesse with a points average of 25.8 per encounter. Because of his slim physique, he was nicknamed "Man without Muscles" in Giessen. In 1979 he won the DBB Cup with MTV, and in 1980, after three years in Giessen, he moved to USC Heidelberg in the 2nd basketball division . Hundley scored an average of 25 points per game during the 1980/81 season, leading the USC to promotion to the first division. After the end of the 1981/82 season, in which he was again Heidelberg top performers in the Bundesliga, but could not prevent the team's relegation, he returned to his home country. Hundley scored a total of 2,413 points in his four years in the Bundesliga.

Private

His son Scott followed in Hundley's footsteps, played basketball at Vanderbilt University , then briefly in the US professional league KBDL before embarking on a career as a coach, which he ended in 2016.
