The DBV Charlottenburg (Deutscher Basketballverein Charlottenburg e.V.) is a basketball club from Berlin. The club was founded on March 24, 1990 by members of the basketball department of DTV Charlottenburg.

The founding of the club became necessary when the DTV was heading for bankruptcy. The Bundesliga team started in 1989/1990 in a syndicate with the newly founded BG Charlottenburg . In the 1990/1991 season the Bundesliga license went solely to the BG Charlottenburg, which renamed itself to Alba Berlin in 1991/1992 . But the DTV, which now only played the top league, was left with legacy issues. Although it was ultimately only about open salary claims of the former coach Rick Shore , there was no prospect of taking this legacy from the budget of the remaining amateur area (basketball and gymnastics department). At the general assembly on April 15, 1991, the dissolution of DTV Charlottenburg eV had to be passed with 79: 3 votes. On October 10, 1991 the final de-registration at the registry court took place.

In the 1991/1992 season, the new club DBV Charlottenburg took part in the game for the first time. Since then, the first men's team has played in the regional league.

What is special about the club are its ex-Bundesliga stars, who have been working for a long time and keep fit playing basketball. They include the multiple national players Matthias Strauss , Lutz Wadehn , Burkhard Schröder and Peer Forsberg . The senior teams of the DBV have already won several German championships.

The club has currently registered seven men's teams, occupied all male youth classes, 280 members and has set itself the goal of at least playing in the 2nd Bundesliga again in the medium term. The DBV Charlottenburg was also a member of the “Central Hoops Berlin” youth network. From 2013 to 2015, the club, in cooperation with TuS Lichterfelde , sent the DBV Charlottenburg / TuS Lichterfelde syndicate into the race in the men's area.

Since 2009 the DBV has been playing in the Bundesliga again, in the JBBL, the U16 Bundesliga.
