RuWa Dellwig (officially: lawn and water sports 1925 Essen-Dellwig eV ) is a sports club from the Essen district of Dellwig . The men's basketball team played for two years in the Bundesliga and the men's table tennis team for seven years in the 2nd Bundesliga .
history
The club was founded on April 4, 1925 as a swimming club. Later the canoe , water polo , gymnastics and table tennis departments were added. By joining the DSC Dellwig 28 in 2001, the club also received a football department .
basketball
The basketball players rose to the Bundesliga in 1974. In the following season , the Dellwiger were last and were relegated. At the same time, the team around Ralph Ogden was dissolved.
Table tennis
The men's table tennis team was one of the founding members of the 2nd Bundesliga West in 1981. The greatest successes there were fourth places in 1983, 1986 and 1987. In the 1987/88 season, fifth, the qualification for the two-pronged 2. Bundesliga was narrowly missed.
Soccer
Since relegation in 2012, RuWa Dellwig's footballers have played in the Essen district league A. In 2020, they were promoted to the district league again.
