Streetheart was a Canadian rock band . It was founded in 1976 and dissolved in 1984.

history

Streetheart emerged from a band called "Wascana" founded in the early 1970s in Regina ( Saskatchewan ) by Daryl Gutheil and Ken Sinnaeve. Singer Kenny Shields joined the group when the members relocated to Winnipeg , and the band was renamed "Witness" and later "Streetheart". In 1976 guitarist Paul Dean and drummer Matthew Frenette joined the band, which released their debut album Meanwhile Back in Paris in 1978 . The following year Under Heaven Over Hell was released , but Paul Dean had left the band before the recordings and was replaced by John Hannah.

Matthew Frenette also left Streetheart and founded the band Loverboy in 1980 with Paul Dean and other musicians . The third Streetheart album, Quicksand Shoes , was recorded with the drummer Herb Ego and was released in 1980. In the same year the band left their previous music label WEA and switched to Capitol Records . Also in 1980, Capitol released the album Drugstore Dancer .

In 1983 the band's last album, Dancing with Danger, was released . Despite their success in Canada (the album received a gold record there ), the band broke up in 1984.
