Eugene Richardson

Eugene Richardson is a retired American basketball player .

Life

Richardson played basketball at Moultrie High School in the US state of Georgia and from 1973 to 1977 at Bethune-Cookman University  in Florida . For the latter team he scored a total of 1,454 points and 410 rebounds.

The 1.98 meter tall winger embarked on a professional career after completing his college days and played in Belgium from 1977 to 1980 . In 1980 he was invited to a trial training session by the Indiana Pacers NBA team  , but he did not receive a contract there. From 1980 to 1983 he played in the Netherlands, including in the 1982/83 season with Tonego 65 Haaksbergen. For the team he scored an average of 23.7 points per encounter.

In the 1983/84 season he strengthened the German Bundesliga club SSV Hagen and was the top scorer in the league in the main round of the Bundesliga with 685 points. After a year in Germany, he returned to Tonego 65 in the neighboring country in 1984 and also played with the club in the European Cup Winners' Cup. He stayed with Tonego 65 until 1986. He played for a year with the Amsterdam Canadians in the Netherlands and at the end of his professional career in France .

In 1990 he became a teacher and basketball coach at the Everglades Middle School in Florida and served as a coach for three years. From 1994 to 2003 he was a basketball coach at Coconut Creek High School (also in Florida) and then at Boyd H. Anderson High School in the same state.
