Bryce Taylor (born September 27, 1986 in Encino , Los Angeles , California ) is a German basketball player . He plays in the position of shooting guard and is currently active for nine-time German champion Brose Bamberg in the basketball league .

Career

Taylor, son of former ABA and NBA player Brian Taylor , attended Harvard-Westlake High School in his native Los Angeles , where he played for their basketball team and where he set the school record for 54 points in one game. He then went to the University of Oregon in Eugene , where he played from 2004 to 2008 for the Oregon Ducks in the Pacific-12 Conference of the NCAA . After four years at college with an average of 12.3 points per game, he signed up for the 2008 NBA draft , in which he was not selected by any NBA team.

He then decided to move to Europe and went to the Italian professional club Premiata Montegranaro , for which he played in Serie A in the 2008/09 season and was able to achieve 13 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.

For the 2009/10 season , the Swingman signed a one-year contract with German runner-up Telekom Baskets Bonn . Taylor also played with Bonn in the 2009/10 Eurocup , in which they were eliminated from six games in the first group stage with just one win. After a disappointing season in the basketball league , in which Bonn was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the playoffs against eventual champions Brose Baskets , Taylor tried to recommend himself for a contract with the NBA during the 2010 summer break. For this he took part in a training camp of the New York Knicks and was invited to the NBA Summer League squad of the Indiana Pacers .

At the end of August 2010, Taylor signed a one-year contract with an exit option after two months at Alba Berlin . In the course of the season Taylor was able to develop an increasingly larger role in the team and managed to advance with Alba Berlin to the final of the German championship . There, however, Berlin had to admit defeat 3-2 after victories against defending champion Brose Baskets Bamberg. In the Eurocup 2010/11 Taylor reached the second group stage with Berlin without defeat, in which only one victory was achieved and Berlin was eliminated. Taylor also played for Alba Berlin in the 2011/12 season and was able to establish himself as a starter in Berlin. Again, Berlin took part in the Eurocup 2011/12 and they reached the second group phase, in which Berlin was again bottom of the group and failed to make it into the finals.

For the 2012/13 season Taylor moved again within the league and signed a contract with the Artland Dragons . With the Dragons Taylor made it into the playoffs, but there the team failed in the first round to ratiopharm ulm . However, Taylor was able to convince with 14.3 points per game and good throwing rates and stood out from the team. The Dragons also took part in the Eurocup 2012/13 , but had to admit defeat in the first group stage.

For the 2013/14 season , Taylor moved to Bayern Munich , with whom he became German champions in the same season when he beat his ex-club Alba Berlin 3-1 wins with Bayern in the final. After Bryce Taylor had matured more and more into a leading position in the FC Bayern squad, he was appointed team captain by Bayern coach Svetislav Pešić in summer 2014 .

The 2014/15 Bundesliga season was again successful and the final of the BBL could be reached again, which however was lost to Brose Baskets after a dramatic 84:88 defeat in the decisive fifth final game with 2: 3 wins.

In the 2015/16 season , Taylor again managed to participate in the playoffs with Munich as fourth in the main round. They defeated the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg 3-2, but were eliminated after three games against the German champions Brose Baskets Bamberg.

In the following season 2016/17 Munich qualified as third in the main round for the playoffs again. Taylor prevailed with FCBB against Alba Berlin 3-1 and played again in the semifinals against last year's champions Brose Bamberg, who in turn managed the sweep against Munich. In the EuroCup 2016/17 qualification for the quarter-finals succeeded after 12 wins in 14 games in the group stage. There you met the later champions Unicaja Málaga , against whom you were eliminated with 1: 2.

In June 2017 Taylor signed a three-year contract with German series champion Brose Bamberg, for which he will also compete in the EuroLeague.

In April 2018, Taylor surrendered his US passport and obtained German citizenship after working and living in Germany continuously for nine years.
