Nelson Jeremias Weidemann (born March 25, 1999 in Berlin ) is a German basketball player .

career

Weidemann played in the youth division of the Bundesliga club Alba Berlin until 2015 and moved to Franconia during the 2015 summer break. In the 2015/16 season, he played five games in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA for Nuremberg BC and scored an average of 1.8 points. In addition, thanks to a “double license”, there were games for the regional league team TS Herzogenaurach and for the Nuremberg team in the junior basketball league (NBBL).

In 2016, Weidemann switched to the youth division of FC Bayern Munich . He was accepted into the extended squad of the Munich Bundesliga team and gained match practice at FC Bayern II in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB and in the NBBL. In spring 2017 he won the German U19 championship title with the FCB youth team and was named the best player in the final tournament.

For the 2019/20 season, FC Bayern awarded him to Bundesliga competitor Brose Bamberg for two years . In addition, the Bambergers were granted a purchase option for the player who had previously played three Bundesliga short appearances for Munich and mostly played for the second team. After a year he left Bamberg and was awarded again by FC Bayern, this time to the Bundesliga club BG Göttingen .

National team

Weidemann took part in the 2015 European Championship with the German U16 national team. In spring 2016 he won the Albert Schweitzer tournament with the U18 national team . At the U18 European Championships in 2016, he reached the semifinals with the selection of the German Basketball Federation and ultimately achieved fourth place. In the summer of 2017 he was part of the German team that took part in the U19 World Cup in Egypt , and in the summer of 2018 he won the bronze medal with the U20 at the European Championships in Chemnitz .
