Nickeil Alexander Walker (born September 2, 1998 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian basketball player .

career

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's cousin played as a student at Vaughan Secondary School in the Canadian province of Ontario before moving to the United States , where he worked for the St. Louis Christian Academy, then for the Hamilton Heights Christian Academy. In the spring of 2016, he announced his move to the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University  (Virginia Tech for short), which took place in the 2017/18 season.

In two years as a player for Virginia Tech, the Canadian played 67 games for the university team and was always in the starting line-up. He achieved averages of 13.5 points as well as four rebounds, 2.7 assists in the basket and 1.4 ball wins per game. In both years he made 58 three-point throws. In April 2019, he ended his university career prematurely and announced his registration for the NBA draft procedure and thus his move to the professional camp. He was selected in 17th place by the New Orleans Pelicans  after the team had secured the right to choose in a swap with the Atlanta Hawks .

National team

At the U18 American Championship in 2016, he was the top scorer of the Canadian national team with an average of 17.4 points per match.
