Iowa State University
The Iowa State University ( ISU ) is a public ( "public") University in Ames in the US state of Iowa . Its official name is Iowa State University of Science and Technology , originally Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts . It was founded in 1858 and currently has around 27,600 students.
The university is one of the 60 members of the Association of American Universities , an association of leading research-intensive North American universities that has existed since 1900.
Sports
Iowa State University's sports teams are the Iowa State Cyclones . The university is a member of the Big 12 Conference .
