Ted Kooser

Ted Kooser (born April 25, 1939 in Ames , Iowa ) is an American poet and the 13th Poet Laureate in the USA.

life and work

Kooser studied at Iowa State University (1962 BA ) and then moved to the University of Nebraska (1968 MA ). He is married to Kathleen Rutledge, the former editor of the Lincoln Journal Star . Ted Kooser currently lives (2013) in Seward County near Garland, Nebraska .

In April 2004 he was named Poet Laureate. Donald Hall succeeded him in June 2006 . In 2005 he received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for his work Delights and Shadows .
