Seward County is a county in the state of Nebraska in the United States . The county seat is Seward .

The county is located in southeastern Nebraska, about 50 miles to the south from Kansas , about 90 miles to the east from Iowa and Missouri , and covers an area of ​​1,491 square kilometers, of which 3 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Butler County , Lancaster County , Saline County , Fillmore County , York County, and Polk Counties .

Seward County was formed in 1867. It was named after William H. Seward , a foreign secretary.

After the census in 2000 16 496 people lived in Seward County. Of these, 1,291 people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 6,013 households and 4,215 families. The population density was 11 people per square kilometer.
