Furnas County is a county in the state of Nebraska in the United States . The county seat is Beaver City , named for its location in the Beaver River Valley .

history

Furnas County was formed in 1873. It was named after the governor Robert W. Furnas .

According to the 2000 census , Furnas County had 5,324 people. 134 of them lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 2,278 households and 1,489 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.2 percent white, 0.1 percent African American, 0.4 percent Native American, 0.2 percent Asian and 0.3 percent from other ethnic groups; 0.8 percent were descended from two or more races.
