Sarpy County is a county in the state of Nebraska in the United States . The county seat is Papillion , which was named after Papillion Creek .

The county is located in the far east of Nebraska, borders the state of Iowa and has an area of 640 square kilometers, of which 18 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Douglas County , Cass County, and Saunders Counties .

Sarpy County was formed in 1857. It was named after Colonel Peter A. Sarpy .

As of the 2000 census , Sarpy County had 122,595 people in 43,426 households and 33,220 families. The population density was 197 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 89.18 percent white, 4.36 percent African American, 0.42 percent Native American, 1.90 percent Asian, 0.09 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 1.86 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 2.20 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 4.37 percent of the population.
Of the 43,426 households, 43.0 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 63.8 percent were married couples living together, 9.6 percent were single mothers, 23.5 percent were non-families, 18.4 percent were single households and 4.7 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.79 and the average family size was 3.21.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 30.5 percent of residents under the age of 18, 9.4 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 33.8 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 19.7 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 6.6 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 98.8 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were statistically 96.2 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 53,804 , and the median income for a family is $ 59,723. Males had a median income of $ 37,230 versus $ 26,816 for females. The per capita income was $ 21,985. 3.1 percent of families and 4.2 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. Of these, 5.3 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 3.3 percent were people over 65 years of age.
