The Cass County is a County US state of Nebraska . The county seat is Plattsmouth , named after its location at the mouth of the Platte River .
geography
The county is located in eastern Nebraska on the border with Iowa , which is formed by the Missouri . Cass County is about 120 kilometers south of Kansas and has an area of 1,466 square kilometers, of which 18 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history
Cass County was formed in 1854 as one of Nebraska's nine original counties. It was named after Lewis Cass (1782-1866), a former Secretary of War (1831-1836), Senator (1849-1857) and Secretary of State of the United States (1857-1860).
One site has National Historic Landmark status , the Walker Gilmore Site archaeological site . 26 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 10, 2018).

Cass County had a population of 24,334 people as of the 2000 census . Of these, 251 people were housed in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 9,161 households and 6,806 families. The population density was 17 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 97.89 percent white, 0.18 percent African American, 0.30 percent Native American, 0.35 percent Asian, 0.02 percent from the Pacific island area and 0.35 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.92 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any of the above mentioned groups were 1.46 percent of the population.
Of the 9,161 households, 35.8 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 63.3 percent were married couples living together, 7.6 percent were single mothers, 25.7 percent were non-families, 21.6 percent were single households and 9.4 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.63 and the average family size was 3.07.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 27.9 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 7.0 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 29.0 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 23.8 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 12.3 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 37 years. Statistically, for every 100 females there were 97.7 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were statistically 95.0 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 46,515 , and the median income for a family is $ 52,196. Males had a median income of $ 36,639 versus $ 24,612 for females. The per capita income was $ 20,156. 4.2 percent of families and 5.2 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. 7.1 percent were children and adolescents under the age of 18 and 4.5 percent were people aged 65 and over.
