Nance County is a county in the state of Nebraska in the United States . The county seat is Fullerton , named after Randall Fuller , an early settler in the area.

The county is located in east-central Nebraska and has an area of 1160 square kilometers, of which 17 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Platte County , Merrick County , Greeley County, and Boone County .
history
Nance County was formed in 1879. It was named after the governor Albinus Nance .

As of the 2000 census , Nance County had 4,038 people in 1,577 households and 1,107 families. The population density was 4 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.39 percent white, 0.37 percent Native American, 0.05 percent Asian and 0.45 percent from other ethnic groups; 0.74 percent were descended from two or more races. 1.14 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 1,577 households, 32.8 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 60.5 percent were married couples living together, 5.6 percent were single mothers, 29.8 percent were non-families, 27.6 percent were single households, and 13.8 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.05.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 27.9 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 6.8 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 23.6 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 22.0 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 19.7 percent were 65 years of age or over. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 104.2 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over, there were 101.9 men statistically.
The median income for a household in the 31,267 US dollars , and the median income for a family was 38,717 USD. Males had a median income of $ 25,349 versus $ 19,044 for females. The per capita income was $ 16,886. 10.2 percent of families and 13.1 percent of the population were below the poverty line. Of these, 17.2 percent were children or young people under the age of 18 and 9.3 percent were people over 65 years of age.
