The Antelope County is a county in the US state of Nebraska . The county seat is Neligh , named after John D. Neligh , an early settler.

The county is located in northeast Nebraska, about 25 miles north of South Dakota and has an area of ​​2,223 square kilometers, of which 4 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

According to the 2000 census , Antelope County had 7,452 people in 2,953 households and 2,073 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.82 percent white, 0.05 percent African American, 0.31 percent Native American, 0.05 percent Asian and 0.28 percent from other ethnic groups; 0.48 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any of the above mentioned groups were 0.70 percent of the population.

Of the 2,953 households, 32.2 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 62.5 percent were married couples living together, 5.5 percent were single mothers, 29.8 percent were non-families, 27.8 percent were single households and 16.2 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.05.

For the entire county, the population was composed of 27.5 percent of residents under the age of 18, 6.2 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 23.3 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 23.2 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 19.9 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were statistically 96.8 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over, there were 94.3 men statistically.

The median income for a household in the county is $ 30,114 , and the median income for a family is $ 36,240. Males had a median income of $ 26,288 versus $ 16,926 for females.
