Webster County is a county in the state of Nebraska in the United States . The county seat is Red Cloud , named after Red Cloud , a political leader of the Plains Indians .

The county is located in southeastern Nebraska, borders the state of Kansas to the south and has an area of ​​1,489 square kilometers with no significant water surface. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Adams County , Clay County , Nuckolls County , Franklin County, and Kearney County .

Webster County was formed in 1871. It was named after the statesman Daniel Webster .

Two Orti in the county have National Historic Landmark status , the Willa Cather House and the Pike-Pawnee-Village-Site archaeological site . A total of 36 buildings and sites in the county are registered on the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 13, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , Webster County had 4,061 people in 1,708 households and 1,118 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.10 percent white, 0.15 percent African American, 0.27 percent Native American, 0.47 percent Asian, 0.07 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.22 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.71 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 0.54 percent of the population.
