The Butler County is a county in the US state of Nebraska . The county seat is David City , named after William Davids of Marion , a large landowner from Ohio .

The county is located in east-central Nebraska, about 50 miles east of Iowa , and has an area of ​​1,514 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history

Butler County was formed in 1857 on part of the now defunct Greene County. It was apparently named after William Orlando Butler , who was nominated as governor of the Nebraska Territory in 1855 but declined the office.

There is also speculation about a name after David Butler , the first governor of the state of Nebraska; however, this only moved to Nebraska two years after the county's establishment.

Butler County's population was 8,767 as of the 2000 census . 102 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 3,426 households and 2,350 families. The population density was 6 people per square kilometer.
