The Arthur County is a county in the US state of Nebraska . The county seat is Arthur . Arthur County is the fifth smallest in the entire United States by population.

The county is located in west-central Nebraska, about 50 km from Colorado in the southwest , and has an area of 1,860 square kilometers, of which 8 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history
Arthur County was formed in 1887. It was named after President Chester A. Arthur (1829–1886), the 21st President of the United States (1881–1885).
Two of the county's structures are on the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 9, 2018).

As of the 2000 census , Arthur County had 444 people in 185 households and 138 families. The population density was 0 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 96.40 percent white, 0.00 percent African American, 0.23 percent Native American, 0.68 percent Asian, 0.23 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.90 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.58 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any of the above mentioned groups were 1.35 percent of the population.
Of the 185 households, 27.6 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 63.2 percent were married couples living together, 7.6 percent were single mothers, 25.4 percent were non-families, 21.6 percent were single households, and 10.8 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.80.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 23.9 percent of residents under the age of 18, 5.4 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 29.5 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 24.8 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 16.4 percent were 65 years of age or over. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 101.8 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were 107.4 men statistically.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 27,375 , and the median income for a family is $ 31,979. Males had a median income of $ 21,544 versus $ 13,125 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,810. 7.9 percent of families and 13.8 percent of the population are below the poverty line. Of these, 15.1 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 7.8 percent were people over 65 years of age.
