Lancaster County is a county in the state of Nebraska in the United States . The county seat is Lincoln , named after President Abraham Lincoln . Lincoln is also the capital of Nebraska.

The county is located in southeast Nebraska, about 55 km to the east from Iowa and Missouri , about 50 km to the south from Kansas , and covers an area of 2,193 square kilometers, of which 20 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Saunders County , Cass County , Otoe County , Johnson County , Gage County , Saline County , Seward County, and Butler County .

Lancaster County was formed in 1854. It was named after the city of Lancaster , Pennsylvania .
Two places in the county have National Historic Landmark status , the William Jennings Bryan House and the Nebraska State Capitol . 101 buildings and sites in the county are registered in the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 11, 2018).

According to the 2000 census , Lancaster County had 250,291 people in 99,187 households and 60,702 families. The population density was 115 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 90.07 percent white, 2.82 percent African American, 0.64 percent Native American, 2.86 percent Asian, 0.06 percent from the Pacific island area and 1.69 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.87 percent were descended from two or more races. 3.37 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 99,187 households, 30.3 percent had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 48.8 percent were married couples living together, 9.1 percent were single mothers, 38.8 percent were non-families, 29.1 percent were single households and 8.3 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 3.00 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 23.5 percent of residents under the age of 18, 15.4 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 30.4 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 20.3 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 10.4 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 99.8 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over, there were statistically 98.5 men.
The median income for a household in the city was $ 41,850 , and the median income for a family was $ 53,676. Males had a median income of $ 34,720 versus $ 25,614 for females. The per capita income was $ 21,265. 5.5 percent of families and 9.5 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. Of these, 9.9 percent were children or adolescents under the age of 18 and 6.1 percent were people over 65 years of age.
