J. Adams

Adams County was formed in 1867. It was named after John Adams (1735–1826), the second President of the United States (1797–1801).

Adams County had a population of 31,151 people as of the 2000 census . 1,642 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 12,141 households and 7,964 families. The population density was 21 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 94.54 percent white, 0.64 percent African American, 0.36 percent Native American, 1.60 percent Asian, 0.04 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 1.99 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.83 percent were descended from two or more races. 4.58 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any of the above mentioned groups.

The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were statistically 96.1 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were statistically 92.8 men.

The median income for a household in the city was $ 37,160 , and the median income for a family was $ 45,620. Males had a median income of $ 29,842 versus $ 21,236 for females.
