Dundy County is a county in the state of Nebraska in the United States . The county seat is Benkelman , named after JG Benkelman , an early settler in the area.

Dundy County was formed in 1873. It was named after the judge Elmer S. Dundy .

For the entire county, the population was composed of 23.3 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 5.7 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 23.5 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 25.1 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 22.4 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 96.9 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were statistically 93.4 men.

The median income for a household in the county is $ 27,010 , and the median income for a family is $ 35,862. Males had a median income of $ 22,415 versus $ 18,583 for females.
