Grant County is a county in the state of Nebraska in the United States . The county seat is Hyannis .

The county is located in west-central Nebraska, about 120 km to the southwest from Colorado , about 110 km to the north from South Dakota , and has an area of 2029 square kilometers, of which 18 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Cherry County , Hooker County , Arthur County , Garden County, and Sheridan Counties .

Grant County was formed in 1884. It was named after General Ulysses S. Grant .
One place in the county is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 11, 2018), the Hotel DeFair .

As of the 2000 census , there were 747 people in Grant County. None of them lived in collective accommodation, the residents lived in 292 households and 226 families. The population density was 0.3 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.8 percent white, 0.1 percent Native American, 0.3 percent Asian and 0.8 percent from other ethnic groups. 1.3 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 292 households, 37.0 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 67.5 percent were married couples living together, 6.5 percent were single mothers, 22.6 percent were non-families, 22.3 percent were single households, and 8.9 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 2.98 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 29.2 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 5.2 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 24.4 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 27.6 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 13.7 percent were 65 years of age or over. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 114.0 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were statistically 105.8 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 34,821 , and the median income for a family is $ 37,011. Males had a median income of $ 26,319 versus $ 14,417 for females. The per capita income was $ 14,815. 8.2 percent of families and 9.7 percent of the population were below the poverty line. Of these, 16.7 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years of age and 0.0 percent were people over 65 years of age.
