Washington County is a county in the state of Nebraska in the United States . The county seat is Blair , which was named after the railway pioneer John I. Blair .

The county is located in the far east of Nebraska, borders the state of Iowa and has an area of ​​1020 square kilometers, of which 8 square kilometers are water. It is bordered in a clockwise direction by the following counties: Burt County , Douglas County, and Dodge County .

Washington County was formed in 1854. It was named after President George Washington .

As of the 2000 census , Washington County had 18,780 people in 6,940 households and 5,149 families. The population density was 19 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.12 percent white, 0.34 percent African American, 0.20 percent Native American, 0.29 percent Asian, 0.11 percent from the Pacific island area and 0.30 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.63 percent were descended from two or more races. 1.08 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
