Saline County is a county in the state of Nebraska in the United States . The county seat is Wilber , named after its founder Charles Dana Wilber .

The county is located in southeast Nebraska, about 25 miles south of Kansas , and has an area of ​​1,492 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Lancaster County , Gage County , Jefferson County , Fillmore County, and Seward Counties .

Saline County was formed in 1867. It was named after the salt deposits here.

According to the 2000 census , Saline County had 13,843 people in 5,188 households and 3,507 families. The population density was 9 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 92.99 percent white, 0.36 percent African American, 0.38 percent Native American, 1.70 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific island region and 3.40 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.15 percent were descended from two or more races. 6.58 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
