Hall County is a county in the US state of Nebraska . The county seat is Grand Island , named after the island of the same name in the Platte River .

The county is located southeast of the geographic center of Nebraska, is about 80 km to the south from Kansas and has an area of ​​1,430 square kilometers, of which 15 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Merrick County , Hamilton County , Adams County , Buffalo County, and Howard County .

Hall County was formed in 1858. It was named after Augustus Hall , an early judge of the territory.

As of the 2000 census , Hall County had 53,534 people in 20,356 households and 14,086 families. The population density was 38 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 88.67 percent white, 0.36 percent African American, 0.31 percent Native American, 1.09 percent Asian, 0.14 percent from the Pacific island area and 8.19 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.24 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 14.00 percent of the population.
